Well, as I wrote earlier, I'm Kris Dressler
In a nutshell, I am a serial entrepreneur, a passionate teacher and an engineer to the bone. It's a tough mix.
I have worked in all stages of manufacturing, from product development in a small third-tier automotive supplier to quality control at an automotive giant. I have worked in technical sales and building automation in the HVAC industry. I ran my own tutoring service in Madison, WI for five years, then moved to Chicago to pursue a little project we called TurboTap. In 2010, we moved back "home" to Madison. I have been fortunate to enjoy quite a bit of success along the way, and even more fortunate to have learned a lot of hard lessons. Whoever it was that told me that start-ups were easy...
To keep life in balance, I am working on a few engineering projects, mentoring a handful of math and science students and working on my PhD in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Fluid Mechanics at the University of Wisconsin.
I am married to an absolutely wonderful woman named Leslie. At some point just about every day, I wonder how I landed such a catch. Brains, beauty, attitude, toughness, talent and a streak of party all wrapped up in one lady. I definitely out kicked my coverage.
Growing up in Northern Wisconsin, I developed an insatiable love for the outdoors. Les and I enjoy kayaking, camping, backpacking, sailing, cycling and just about anything else that allows us to avoid ceilings.
When the weather is absolutely prohibitive and I have to stay inside, I enjoy playing bass (badly), guitar (worse) and singing (in dire situations). I used to play with a couple other guys in a band called Squid, but Stefan got married and moved to Portland, I moved to Chicago and Dan stayed in Madison. Now that I am back in Madison, we will play again.
If anything I do seems interesting to you, give me a ring.
